June Blood Red Roses

OK so i've had a week to get over the Wet and wonderful Blood Red Roses. Two weeks ago i was struggling to get kit in shape and racing to print out a special book for my character. Mum was kind enough to make me a fantastic Cloak and i fixed my bag at last.

Only problem was by the first morning my character was already dead. Blown up by some jokers carrying a box that apparently had explosives in it. So there you go, all that hard work down the drain. It brought a sudden realisation to playing BRR, you can die really easy without doing anything. So it started to rain heavily non stop and put a damper on things. So with my character gone i had to make a new character to use on the event.

This new character had no thought behind it other than Micheal Caine from Zulu. He was expendable, fearless, obeyed orders and everyone had a hard time keeping a straight face when talking to him. "Right sir, I'll stay here and hold them off sir, dont mine me sir, i'll be fine sir, just put the kettle on for when i catch up sir!"

it was as this character that i realised another thing about BRR. Players are afraid to do heroic deeds because acts of heroism rarely allow for survival, and they have spent months preparing for these characters, so naturally they dont want to die. This leads to Players trying to talk their way out of everything while all the crew wonna do is just have a bloody fight.

If i was to play BRR again, i would have to bring 3 or 4 charcaters, and play with the purpose of being killed in all manner of sillyness. Otherwise i'd be spending all my time talking my way around fights along with the other invested players, only to be blown up unexpectedly. It would be cheaper kit wise, and there is no need for armour, so i wont mind so much when our guide gets lost in the woods again.

My Emergency Character did have a good death at the end of the event. Me and Kerne had a shoot out that resulted in us both laying next to each other dead...laughing ...but dead.

POST BRR post not about BRR but instead about last weeks E3 show and Todays possible release of 3rd Generation iPhone....

Ok yeh so its a long title... ANYWAY, it was BRR at the weekend and i died. I might elaberate on that in another post, instead i want to talk about E3. Most of you know that E3 is the big electronic entertainment expo (see, 3 E's). Usually nothing interesting comes out of them but this year two things caught my interest. Oh and thanx to Charlie McDonald of Charlieissocoollike for making the most entertaining and truthful documentation of the show.

The First thing about the show was a small tid-bit about WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE tie in GAME. It'll be your usual puzzle solving 3D character film tie in. But hey its where the wild things are so it will be kool anyway. The developers originally working on this game imploded like many other companies at the moment so the game has been flying around between developers to get finished just adding to crazyness behind this film project. I look forward to seeing more shots from the game.

Another mind boggling thing was the Xbox Natal project that uses human gesture recognition via a 3D camera. Now thats kool for pretend driving and kung foo moves, but what amazed me was MILO. Milo is an experiment in engaging human interaction on an emotional level. The whole thing is about fooling you into interation with a computer as if another human being. Milo is a virtual boy who talks to you, throws stuff at you, encourages you to discuss why he is sad or happy. To me this is a breakthrough and i can see it leading to excellent tools for learning and revolutionising the future of how we interact with computers.

Finally its APPLE DAY, which means there is a keynote and all apple church goers have their eyes peeled for a possible new iPhone to be released... can only wait and seee.......
